Needle Felting

Needle felting is one of the fastest growing crafts today. BUt it doesn’t only have to be a craft. It is easy to begin and be good, but it never fails to challenge, and amaze the longer you work with wool.

Our workshops help build those skills from easy and fun craft, to really having an understanding of the art of needle felting.

Workshops are held at All Sorts Acre, just outside of Guelph.

Concentrating on handling and getting used to the wool, tools, and beginning to think like, not just a crafter, but an artist. Focusing on sculpture, this workshop introduces the properties of wool, how wool behaves, different types of wool, using colour for form, and which ones are most suitable for needle felting in 3-d as well as interpreting a figures into felt shapes to create the base for your artwork. A needle felting kit is included that you will be able to bring home so you can continue to create.. Date: Sat. June, 1, 2013 Time: 10-3pm

Needle Felting Basics - Applique
Using wool as a decorative medium is not new, but using like this is. Learn how to begin using wool more like paint. This workshop will look at the process of taking an inspirational image and getting down onto a substrate that can then be felted upon. We will be looking at different appliqués techniques, tools, and uses. A full kit is included in the class and that you can take home. Date: Sat. July, 6, 2013 Time: 10-2pm

Needle Felting- Working with Form
Wool becomes a new and exciting medium when form and open space are introduced. Learn about using resists to make bowls, purses, and hats. You will go through the process of designing, selecting colours, wool types for use, embellishment and finishing your piece. An introduction to wet felting will also be done. Date: Sat. Needle Felting Advanced- Figures and Armatures
This workshop focuses on creating a realistic figure. You will learn the steps to making a life like human or animal figure from start to finish. Materials include a take home kit. Date: Tuesday. June, 4, 11, 2013 Time: 10-2pm

Needle Felting - Wool Painting
This workshop is an in-depth look at painting with wool. We will look at colour relationships, how to mix and blend wools, composition, transfer to a suitable substrate, and framing of the wool piece. How to use both wet felting, and needle felting in the creation of your piece will be looked at, discussed, and tried. All materials are included in the course. Date: Saturday/Sunday, October 26/27 , 2013 Time: 10-3pm
