Where do we plant it?, What do we plant in it?, How do we get started?
These were the questions we asked ourselves when setting up our forest gardens. Buying cool PC plants from far away places is great, but not everyone can or wants to do that.
We decided to find out if we could create an urban food forest using common plants available from common garden centres for $100 or less in a 10' x 10' space or less.
This workshop gives people a jumping off point to create their own food forest right in their own backyard with commonly available plants from their local garden centre.
Some of the topics covered include:
- Permaculture Ethics and Principles.
- Zones of use.
- Home scale land assessment and analysis.
- What is a forest garden.
- Guilds: plants for the food forest.
- Where to buy the plants.
- Useful plants.
- Utilizing found materials.
- Worksheets to help the learning process.
The entire workshop runs for 3 hours. It includes a 20 page booklet to take home to help your permaculture endeavour. If you or your organization is interested in having this workshop come to your location, or would like to hold it at All Sorts Acre please contact us.
